The Pro Final, Mike Armstrong vs. Sammy Torres.

Mike Armstrong gets the win!

Modified
The final 6. - A Ford, a Dodge, and 4 Chevys. 4 of the 6 were Thunder Alley regulars.

Eddie Cordero, of El Paso, and Greg Chenault, also El Paso in the Finals.
This is Eddies first win! *Note:This is Eddie Cordero - bis brother Jerry used to race the car

The motorcycle racers had their own class at this race - good turnout.

Louie Vasquez of El Paso had some major reconstruction going on during the winter with a back half job done by Danny's Race Fab and built a new blown small block to compliment the 14x32 Good Years out back. Looked really good, but there is still some tuning and work to be done.

Gary Couffal of El Paso brought out his new S-10 and got it down in the low 12's!

Trini Ortiz of Silver City getting some lift in his 302 powered Mercury Capri!

We got the Mustang down to a 13.07/103- knocking on the door to bust into the 12's. The car was running right on the numbers running a 13.127 on a 13.12 in the second round.... too bad I cut a .491 redlight! Local legend Ray Montoya brought out this Dart - even after an unfortunate accident that may have totalled his truck and trailer Saturday before the race.

The Adobe Deli got hit by the Dust Devil that came through parts of the pits and mangled the big awning that shaded patrons.

As a reuslt- DIRT BURGERS HALF PRICE! woohoo!

Just joking... I don't know what they did with the dirt burgers.

Burnout Pics of the race!

Julian Moody made a pass in his blown alcohol dragster - 8.0 and still stopped!

Cliff Wells and Vince Moore of El Paso brought out their small block street driven 4 Speed Chevelles to get some time runs in and practice some bracket racing. Cliff got his yellow Chevelle down to an 11.7 off the bottle! Vince had some timing problems and ran a 12.6 first pass but slowed every pass after that. Cliff made it to the second round but missed a gear.

As if the long hot sunny day of drag racing and driving 2 hours each way wasn't enough! Vince found the problem and made it out to the Dezert Demonz Drags along with Cliff for some more drag racing action. I met up with these guys out there and made a few runs. Ended up leaving just before midnight. Monday was a long day at work!

Dirty, sunburned, tired and stinky - but we made it to both races in one day!

Billy Graham of the Hot Rod Connection presented Eddie Cordero with a 100 Bucks for winning Mod with the Hot Rod Connection Decal on the front fender. Billy will be doing this in both Pro and Mod all year long. Richards Automotive will also be doing this all year long if you run his decals as well!
