Sunday Night Drags as the Dezert Demonz Dragway 2-23-03

Over 5,000 people got together out at the West Texas Airport for some real street racing. This has to be one of the best turnouts of any drag race in this area. There was constant racing with a long line of cars paired up to run. Even though this event was advertised with an Import Car show there seemed to be more classic and modern muscle cars than imports. And if racing is was not enough for you, there were bands playing and a wild Motocross jump set up with some awesome riders doing X games style stunts. It was without a doubt the place to be. Here are a few pics Todd Ryden and myself took. I will definately be going back out there soon.

It's the legal place to street race. There are no clocks, no staging beams, not even water in the burnout box! This is the illegals - just without the cops!

Dezert Demonz Dragway - a street racers dream come true. I must admit, it felt great to walk through the pits checking out all the cars and seeing which ones would make a good race. Gave me flashbacks of the Highway 54 and Electric illegals. I loved those days, but this setup blows those days away!

There were bonfires scattered throughout the spectator side. I cruised out there in the Mav and ran Todd Ryden's bad Pontiac Wagoon. I guess the indimidation of the Pumpkin was too much for him - he couldn't get the car in reverse after the burnout the first time and missed 3rd the second time. Maybe we'll have a rematch.

A lot of FUN! I plan to go back out in a couple weeks - see you out there!

Thanks to Todd Ryden for all the great pictures!
